More than a month after ending a record-breaking high school basketball career, Randolph senior Tyler Hind continues to collect accolades.
Hind was named New York’s Class C Player of the Year by the New York State Sports Writers Association on Thursday. Hind averaged 25.0 points in his final season with the Cardinals, adding 5.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game. He finished with 2,224 career points, eighth all-time in Western New York, and he set the WNY career three-point basket record this season, finishing with exactly 400 treys (105 this year).
Hind was an All-Western New York second-team selection, announced in The Buffalo News on April 12. He made the all-state teams all four years of his varsity career at Randolph, from third team in 2017 to second team in 2018 and first team the last two years.
Randolph won its third sectional title in four years this season, making the Section 6 Class C crossover game.
Also on the all-state list, Randolph sophomore center Gabe McCoy and senior guard Kaleb Steward earned Class C honorable mentions. Salamanca junior center Jarod White also earned an honorable mention in Class C.
