Sheriff’s office warns of scam

LITTLE VALLEY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on Monday warned county residents of a new text message scam that has been reported by members of the community.

According to a statement, people have received texts warning of a final notice for an outstanding traffic ticket. The message warns of driving privileges and vehicle registration being suspended.

These messages are an attempt to coax individuals into entering payment information into a fraudulent website.

The CCSO urges residents to ignore this message if received.
