Salamanca boys track finishes season at Sectionals

It was a standout year for the Salamanca boys track & field team, as the team boasted its largest roster in years—bringing energy, depth, and stronger representation throughout the championship phase of the season.

Senior Kyle Lecceardone emerged as the team’s lone individual qualifier for the Section VI State Qualifier meet, competing in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, where he placed 13th and 12th respectively. Though those finishes weren’t his personal season bests, Kyle’s earlier performances earned him spots on Salamanca’s all-time top ten list—#4 in the 100-meter and #6 in the 200-meter.

“Beyond his speed, Kyle brought unmatched leadership to the team, setting the tone every day through his work ethic, selflessness, and fierce determination,” coach Michelle Hill said. “Whether in practice or mid-sprint, his effort was all-in, all the time. His intensity, discipline, and quiet leadership will be deeply missed next season.”

The 4×100 relay team—Dakota Colts, Perry Winship, Remy Follman, and Kyle Lecceardone—earned a strong 10th-place finish, closing out the season with pride. With three of the four runners graduating, Remy Follman will be the anchor for next year’s sprint squad as the team works to fill the shoes of its senior sprinters.

In distance events, the 4×800 relay team of Mason Brewer, Knox Johnson, Payton Bigler, and Aiden George made a powerful showing, finishing 9th overall. It was the first time in many years that Salamanca had championship-level representation in this demanding relay—and the boys also earned the #4 spot on the school’s All-Time Top Ten list. With only Mason graduating, this young relay squad is poised to return even stronger next season.

“Overall, the 2025 season was one of growth, achievement, and momentum,” Hill said. “With rising talent and a solid foundation in place, the Warriors boys track & field team is building something special—and the future looks fast.”
