SALAMANCA — A fire broke out in a storage barn on Mill Street behind the Holiday Inn Express between 10 and 10:30 Tuesday night.
According to Salamanca Fire Department officials, a call came in around 10:30 p.m. Emergency personnel arrived on the site shortly thereafter. An ambulance was also called to the scene.
Fire department officials said no one was injured during the incident and the surrounding buildings were unharmed. About $1 million worth of contents inside the building were saved. Damages total around $100,000.
The Salamanca Fire Department was assisted by the Seneca Nation of Indians and Kill Buck volunteer fire departments. Members of the Rapid Intervention Team from Bradford, Pa., also attended the scene.
Officials said the situation was under control by 11:30 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 1:30 a.m. County property records list the Seneca Nation of Indians as the property owner.
Further details of the incident were under investigation at press time Wednesday.
