Christmas Cantata to be performed Sunday

Members of the annual Christmas Cantata rehearse for their music performance set for Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. in Salamanca and 7 p.m. in Ellicottville.

SALAMANCA — It’s time to mark your calendars and plan to attend this year’s Christmas Production of “Candles and Carols” by Mark Hayes and Pamela Martin.

The Ellicottville/Salamanca Area Combined Choir made up of 35 talented singers will present two concerts for the community on Sunday, Dec. 15.

The first concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, 134 Broad St. in Salamanca. The second will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holy Name of Mary Church, 22 Jefferson St. in Ellicottville.

The group is once again directed by Annette Ieda from the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church.

This year’s performances are all about familiar Carols, sung with some audience participation, as we celebrate the “Hope,” “Peace,” “Joy” and “Love” of the Christmas Season through song and narration and the lighting of candles.

What a wonderful way to worship and give praise for this season of light. A free-will offering will be collected to help with our expenses and contribute to the area food banks.
