SALAMANCA — If learning a variety of natural fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting and crochet has been on your bucket list, Judith Korff can help you achieve your dreams.

Korff invites the community to visit her at the recently opened LadySong Fiber Arts Studio, located at 79 Main St., across from the Salamanca Antique Mall.

“Bring a portable project, enjoy the company of others talking and relaxing or take a class,” she said.

With over 20 years of experience, Korff will soon be offering classes on dying techniques, making handmade soap, weaving and spinning. She has peg, table and tapestry looms for visitors to use in the shop. Classes will be on a sign-up basis.

For more advanced classes, there will be special guests to teach things like single strand weaving or even perhaps bead weaving.

At LadySong you will find the natural fibers you need to complete your project, including raw fibers, alpaca yarn, sheep yarn and Merino Wool roving from a local farm.

Korff also carries some completed items such as socks, mittens and a few handmade items such as scarves, hats and toys.

Local farmers interested in consignment for their products should stop by and ask about the opportunities.

Many will recognize Korff from her participation at local fiber festivals and farmer’s markets.

“I showed at festivals and markets all over New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio for 10 years,” she said. “I got the idea to open this shop because I’m tired of setting all this stuff up and taking it down. It’s an experiment.”

Korff has 14 alpacas on her farm in Randolph that she raises for their fiber.

LadySong Fiber Arts Studio is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday. For more information, call (716) 499-0383.
