The Olean Times Herald unveiled its 2022-23 Big 30 Basketball All-Stars on Saturday, including two members of the Salamanca boys on the first-team all-stars.
Salamanca junior guard Lucus Brown and senior guard Andy Herrick both made the first team all-stars, while Franklinville’s Megan Jackson was a second-team girls all-star and Ellicottville’s Dalayla Alexander was a third-team selection.
Brown was also awarded the Big 30 Player of the Year, winning over a field of nominees that included Herrick, Allegany-Limestone’s Anthony DeCapua and Otto-Eldred’s Landon Francis.
— Herrick earned his spot on the Big 30 first team after averaging 17.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals, helping the Warriors go 20-3 as the team’s top defender as well. He also was a league first-team all-star.
— Franklinville’s Megan Jackson was a second-team Big 30 girls basketball all-star, averaging 20 points, six rebounds and three steals. The senior guard was also the CCAA Div. II East MVP.
— Ellicottville’s Dalayla Alexander earned a place on the third-team girls all-stars. The junior point guard led the Eagles’ 16-6 season, averaging 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists with 36 made 3-pointers.
