Ellicottville’s Hayly Fredrickson holds her first-place plaque after winning a Section 6 alpine skiing championship in a season-ending giant slalom race Thursday at Holiday Valley.

ELLICOTTVILLE — The 2021 Western New York high school ski racing season came to a close Thursday night and Ellicottville senior Hayly Fredrickson claimed the Section 6 girls championship.

Fredrickson took first, based on her times in four races this season (two in slalom, two in giant slalom), in the Section 6 alpine skiing rankings. She was joined by teammates CeCe Carls and Emmylu Carls, at second and third respectively, atop the Section 6 rankings.

Ellicottville also had the second-place boys alpine skiing rankings, as Emmett Jacobson Coolidge was second behind Gow’s Hunter Haslett.

In Thursday’s season-ending giant slalom race, Fredrickson took first with a time of :50.10, followed by CeCe Carls at :54.15. Jacobson Coolidge was second among boys at :55.05.
