The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau is pleased to announce this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Marley Dundas.
Dundas is the daughter of Jennifer and Michael Dundas and is a graduate of Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School.
Dundas completed many volunteer hours through her school and community. She was a member of Girl Scouts for 12 years, completing several projects to help those around her, and was a member of the Natural Helpers Club for two years. Through the Natural Helpers, Dundas was selected for her helping instincts and then trained to assist her peers who came to her with problems. She was a member of the Donate Life Club for four years, working to raise awareness for the benefits of organ donations and transplants and was the Class Treasurer for six years. Dundas was a member of the school band for three years, ECOS Club for three years, Language Club for three years and Yearbook Club for four years.
Dundas played sports and worked hard academically. She was a member of the varsity soccer team for three years and earned the Defensive Most Valuable Player Award in addition to the Coaches Award. Dundas was also a member of the varsity bowling team for two years and was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. She earned several academic awards including High Honor Roll for four years, the Clarkson University Academic Achievement Award and Jamestown Community College’s Top Ten Award. Additionally, Dundas was in the top 25% of Jamestown Business College students, has received an Advanced Regents diploma with mastery in both math and science and was named the Salutation of her graduating class.
In Dundas’s free time, she enjoys learning about mechanics, working on cars and working with ceramics. She is described by her school counselor as a person with great character and academics. Dundas will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering to pursue a career as an engineer.
