Beth Erhart of Cattaraugus brought three of her Miniature Silky Fainting Goats to the fair, including Sweet Cherry Pie. Although there is no class to show them in at the Cattaraugus County Fair, she’s introducing the recognized breed not commonly known in New York state. Erhart said they don’t truly faint but have a myotonic fainting trait where, if they get scared, their muscles stiffen and they fall over.

As the 183rd Cattaraugus County Fair kicked off this weekend, there was plenty of action and competition taking place at the 4-H arenas and grandstand. Sunday afternoon was all about horses, hogs and goats, while the evening was filled with thrills presented by the Black Cat Hell Drivers stunt show. The fair continues through Saturday.
