Just clarifying

Last month, if you’re a regular reader, you might remember me stating something along the lines of planning to never work again once my deeply unlikely bet on Uzbekistan winning the World Cup netted me up to $5,000,000 in DoorDash credits.

I wrote about how, sure, I could have made a safe bet, and netted a small amount, but I had grown to believe that a team with 1-1,500 odds was a team of destiny.

A couple weeks later, seeing them lose their three games by a combined nine goals, I just wanted to clarify that it was all a joke. I was never going to run away with the money and find a tax haven to benefit from with my food delivery service fortune.

I’d like to thank Uzbekistan’s back line for preserving both my career and my reputation. As it turns out, it’s remarkably easy to resist the corrupting influence of imaginary wealth.
