James W. Nelligan Jr.

SALAMANCA — James W. Nelligan Jr., 53, of Salamanca, died Friday evening (June 5, 2026) at the family home in North Tonawanda, following a long illness.

Born Dec. 31, 1972, in Olean, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Doris Collins Nelligan.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1991.

Jim had been employed with the Salamanca Department of Public Works for over 25 years, working as a supervisor.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, camping, and was an avid cornhole player. He enjoyed bowling and was an automobile enthusiast. He was an avid Las Vegas Raiders fan.

Surviving are one daughter, Zoey Nelligan of Canada; one son, Daniel Nelligan of Jamestown; three sisters, Becky (Scott Taylor) Nelligan of Arkansas, Joy Corbett of North Tonawanda and Amanda Nelligan of Pennsylvania; two brothers, David Bennett of Allegany and Andy Nelligan of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday (June 15, 2026) at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Michael Lonto officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203.
