Deb’s Pressing Issue
Email AI Overview
Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to annoy me and, in most cases, often goes too far. Not long ago, it showed up in my email messages as an AI Overview that appears and summarizes all key points and any replies in the thread. It might give you information like the deadline, the task required from you, a short summary of the email and a Remind Me button.
AI Overviews, generated by Google Gemini, are supposed to help you manage your inbox more efficiently. Help Me Write, Suggested Replies and Proofread options are available to help you compose messages faster.
I don’t need all this. It just takes up space at the top of the email page where I’d like to see the actual email. It impedes reading and responding to my emails. Instead of making things more efficient for me, it slows me down. Even worse, AI Overview gives you a message on your email page warning you that there may be mistakes, so why would I want to take the time to read the summary at all? I found a way to turn it off deep in the Google settings and, needless to say, I did.
