The snowmaking machines at Holiday Valley and HoliMont ski resorts in Ellicottville were on full blast Monday in preparation for the winter sports season. After a warmer-than-usual November, both sites are aiming for a mid-December opening as long as the weather cooperates and temperatures remain near or below freezing.
