West Valley’s Parish named Youth of the Week
The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau announces that this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Victoria Parish, the daughter of Michael and Barbara Parish and a graduate of West Valley High School.
Parish was nominated by her school counselor, who described her as having met all the criteria of an award-winning youth citizen. She was a hard worker, very involved in sports and stayed active in school clubs.
Parish had been an eight-plus-year member of 4-H, participating in public presentations and numerous community service events. Her involvement in Girl Scouts kept her busy with volunteering, learning new programs, and attending parades and community dinners.
At St. John’s Youth Group, she volunteered in the annual drive-thru nativity and met monthly to plan upcoming events. In her community, she helped at the West Valley Volunteer Hose Company, assisting with fish fries, community dinners, and various other events.
During her junior and high school years, Parish participated in chorus, band, musicals, track and field, cross country and indoor track. She was even honored as West Valley’s first female varsity cross country athlete.
In her free time, Parish enjoyed dog sitting and immersing herself in arts and crafts. She also aspired to become a baker and pastry maker. Congratulations, Victoria!
Nominations for the 2026 graduating class are now open. More information is available at cattcoyouth.org or by contacting Christina O’Brien, Youth Bureau program coordinator, at (716) 701-3360.
