Portville’s Aloi named Youth of the Week

The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau announces that this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Gianna Aloi, the daughter of Anthony and Marcene Aloi and a graduate of Portville High School.

Aloi was nominated by her school counselor, who describes her as a positive role model for others. She exemplifies a giving spirit through her volunteer activities and understands the importance of helping those around her.

This fall, Aloi plans to attend college and pursue a degree in diagnostic sonography. She has a strong community service background, having dedicated her time to helping at the Southside Union Chapel, where she leads worship through song several times a month, and participated in a mission trip to Kako in Western Alaska with Heritage Aflame.

Aloi also enjoys supporting her community during Portville’s Heritage Days and Arts and Antique Shows by assisting vendors with setup, and contributes to fundraising efforts by calling Portville alumni during the Phon-a-Thon, as well as selling tickets and working concessions during the ACE Tournament.

During her junior and high school years, Aloi was consistently on the High Honor Roll, earned the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete award in soccer, served as team captain, was named Athlete of the Month and received CCAA Honorable Mention. Additionally, in her junior year, she was nominated by her teacher for her dedication to social justice, earning the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Awards.

In her free time, Aloi enjoys singing and traveling. She embodies the qualities of a responsible, compassionate and ambitious individual committed to making positive impacts both within her community and in her personal growth. Congratulations, Gianna!

Nominations for the 2026 graduating class are now open. For more information, visit cattcoyouth.org or contact Christina O’Brien, Youth Bureau program coordinator, at (716) 701-3360.
