David W. Leaskey

SALAMANCA — David W. Leaskey, 72, of Salamanca, died Monday, June 9, 2025, at Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.

Born Dec. 13, 1952, in Salamanca, he was the son of the late Edward and Betty Lund Leaskey.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1971, and earned his associate’s degree in business from Olean Business Institute.

David had been employed with Southern Tier Forest Products and had previously been employed with Norton Sawmill.

He enjoyed caring for his pets and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also loved reading and collecting DVD movies. He had a fascination with the Alamo. He was always busy building a model fort or writing a book about it. Anybody who knew Dave looked forward to his annual Halloween parties.

Dave was very thankful to all his friends who stepped up to help him after he lost his leg due to medical issues.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced. Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
