Margaret J. ‘Peggy’ Jones
RANDOLPH — Margaret J. “Peggy” Jones, 78, of Randolph, formerly of Steamburg, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, in the home of her daughter Lisa in Randolph.
She was born May 16, 1947, in Salamanca, the daughter of the late Paul James Kenyon and Twilla “Joanne” Burdic Barber.
She had worked at Allegany State Park in maintenance and cleaning and at many local manufacturing facilities. She later worked in many area private homes, caring for those in need as a home health care aide.
She was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Salamanca. Peggy loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. For many years, she bred Chihuahuas and Pomeranians and just loved all dogs in general. She also enjoyed country music and dancing.
She is survived by her daughters and caregivers, Lisa Marie (Gary) Brown of Randolph and Teresa (Thomas) Spengler of Frewsburg; a son, Scott (Kerchaina) Peterson of Guys Mills, Pa.; five grandchildren, Justin (Maria) Foster, Ashley (Austin) Foster, Joshua (Desarae) Spengler, Joshua Clayson and Justin “Jay” Williams; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy and Norma Kenyon of Jimersontown; a stepsister, Penny Barber Peterson of Salamanca; four stepchildren, Brian, Mike and William Jones and Bonnie Jones Smith; as well as many members of the Foster family that called her “grandma.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul James Kenyon and Joanne Burdic Frank Barber; her husband, John Jones; a brother, Ernest Kenyon; a sister, Donna Kenyon; and step-siblings, Ricky Barber and Gloria Barber.
The family received relatives and friends Sunday (June 15, 2025) from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, where funeral services were held Monday (June 16, 2025). Michael Brooks, pastor of the Steamburg Community Church, officiated. Burial would be in the Steamburg Cemetery.
