SALAMANCA — Kathleen S. Remsen, 75, of Salamanca, died Tuesday evening, June 3, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital, following a long illness.
Born July 6, 1949, in Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rene Schuyler Remsen.
She attended the Ten Broeck Academy, Franklinville.
Kathy had been employed at Seneca Gaming and Entertainment for over 15 years, retiring in 2020. She also held other local jobs throughout the area.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she helped raise. She will be remembered for attending their sporting events and also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies; listening to music such as Alabama, Elvis, Fleetwood Mac and older country music; and playing board games, especially Yahtzee.
Surviving are two daughters, Terri (Lance Hoag) Remsen of Salamanca and Lori (Kevin Downes) Harvey of Tonawanda; four grandsons, Sailor Shawn M. Remsen, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., Carmine M. Hoag of Salamanca and Nick and Noah Downes, both of Tonawanda; a sister, Colleen (Charles) Webster of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Senior Airman Shawn M. Remsen, and two sisters, Danielle Parmenter and Antoinette Agett.
There will be no visitation. Graveside funeral services will be held in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville, at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296, 61 Wildwood Ave., Salamanca, NY 14779.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
