EDEN — No. 12 seed Salamanca won 12-3 over Brocton on May 22 to break a seven game losing streak, and they carried that effort into a dominant 7-1 win over No. 5 Eden Saturday to advance to the Section 6 Class B quarterfinal.
“What a performance on the mound by Zach Trietley,” coach Greg Herrick said. Treitley threw a complete game with three hits and 11 strikeouts. The Salamanca batting included Jake Herrick hitting a two-RBI single to get the scoring started, and Calum Farnum provided a two-out single that drove in two more runs.
Brendon Ghani finished off a big day at the plate with a triple in the seventh inning that drove in two runs for the Warriors. Payton Bradley went 2-4 while also “playing outstanding defense at catcher,” Herrick said.
Salamanca played Fredonia on Tuesday for a chance to move on to the Section 6 semifinal.
