RED HOUSE — Allegany State Park will host a series of treks into the sunset every Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. this winter with its annual snowshoe hikes program.
Beginning Jan. 8, Park Naturalists will lead interpretive snowshoe treks, weather depending, or hikes if there is not enough snow. Witness a breathtaking winter sunset at Stone Tower, visit a secret beaver pond or hike along a creek.
Meeting places and hikes will vary. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight, water bottle, a snack and a sense of adventure.
Need snowshoes? No problem. The park has several pairs to use during the program for free. Please call the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at (716) 354-6263 to reserve snowshoes by noon on the day of each hike or for additional information.
