City of Salamanca clean-up days slated for June

SALAMANCA — Mayor Sandra Magiera, members of the Common Council and the city’s Department of Public Works have scheduled clean-up days in June in Salamanca.

SALAMANCA — Mayor Sandra Magiera, members of the Common Council and the city’s Department of Public Works have scheduled clean-up days in June in Salamanca.

It is required that debris must be on the curb by Monday, June 10 but not be placed before Wednesday, June 5.

For such debris to be collected from a property, a fee of $40 per household — including per apartment for apartment owners — must be paid to the city.

No debris will be picked up until the proper fee is paid to the city. Anyone suspected of paying one fee for multiple households will be excluded from the clean-up.

Commercial or industrial establishments are excluded from the program except for not-for-profit organizations.

There will be no pick up of televisions, computers or computer monitors. These items can be taken to the transfer station and disposed of for free at the limit of one per day.

Appliances containing freon — including refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioners, etc. — will be picked up separately.

Items that will be collected are:

    • Stoves, furniture, mattresses, doors, windows, gas grills with tanks removed, cabinets and toys.

    • Bicycles, empty paint cans, lamps, clothing, books and magazines.

    • All small items must be bagged or boxed.

    • Reasonably sized yard waste must be boxed or bagged.

    • Twigs, branches, etc. must be bundled.

    • Lumber must be lengths no greater than 4 feet and bundled.

Items excluded from pickup include animal waste, garbage, soil, asbestos, batteries, concrete, any hazardous waste — paints, solvents or any liquids — tires, large pipes, complete tear off of a roof and large amounts of building materials.

Interested residents should submit payment and the property address to the City Comptroller, 225 Wildwood Ave., Salamanca, by 4 p.m. Thursday, June 6.

Further information can be obtained by calling the city clerk’s office at (716) 945-4620.
