We have officially entered my favorite time of year. From my living room window, I have seen the change of seasons more than I ever have before. The air is colder, the world is filled with yellow, red and orange hues and sports are back into full swing.
As much as summer is glorified, autumn is much more bearable thanks to the preoccupation that sports provides people like myself. Currently, my focus is on high school sports. There are few traditions more sacred in the country than catching a high school football game on a Friday night. There are few better feelings than scoring a goal or making a save that sends your team to the sectional finals. There are few things that provide a person with that sort of feeling.
My father is the head coach of my old varsity soccer team and my sister is the scorekeeper. Fall sports run in my family’s blood. So when it gets to this time of year when the lights get to shine on our area’s best athletes, it provides me with a wave of happiness knowing that I have been able to keep this passion in the spotlight.
