The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau is pleased to announce this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Ellie Strade.
Ellie is the daughter of Christine and Christopher Strade and is a senior at Allegany-Limestone Central School.
Ellie has been highly involved in the community and her school. She has volunteered as the Allegany Little League Baseball umpire coordinator for one year and has been a Board of Education student representative for one year. Ellie has been an American Legion Empire Girls State participant for one year and has been a member of the 4-H for four years. She has been a member of Natural Helpers for two years as the vice president contributing to a positive school environment through helping peers in need and has been the vice president of the Student Activities Council for two years.
Ellie has completed service projects and built leadership skills through the Interact Club, where she has been a member for four years and she has raised awareness for the benefits of organ donations and transplants through her three year membership with the Donate Life Club.
Ellie has been involved in several other school activities and sports while achieving academic excellence. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years as the president and has been a member of the Debate Club for two years, holding the position of treasure for one year. Ellie has been a member of the NvestNus Club for two years and a member of the Ski Club for five years.
She has played volleyball for two years, softball for three years earning the Golden Glove Award and soccer for one year. Ellie has earned the Scholar Athlete Award, the Excellence Award for Jamestown Community College Statistics, the Excellence Award for Pre-Calculus and has received High Honor Roll with Merit throughout the past four years.
Additionally, she has earned the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Computing Medal and University of Rochester’s George Eastman Young Leaders Award, all while holding a job as a ski instructor.
Ellie’s plans after graduation are to attend the University of Utah to earn her bachelor’s degree. She is described by her school counselor as an exemplary student who is kind, personable and a strong leader amongst her peers.
