SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Public Library recently purchased a new microfilm reader using memorial donations.

This new reader will make it much easier for individuals to do local research at the library, whether looking for obituaries for a genealogy project or trying to track down an old newspaper article.

Library officials expressed thanks to all who donated and made the purchase possible.

The book box program has returned to the library. To participate, fill out a short survey and staff will select three books. Inside the book box will be free giveaways for participants to keep. To sign up, visit the library’s Facebook page.

Author William P. Robertson will visit the library at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct 22. Robertson is the author of several books including the “Ghosts Revisited” series.

Robertson will be discussing this collection of books that focuses on ghost stories of Pennsylvania and Western New York. Copies of his books will be available for purchase at the event.

Think you know it all? Test your knowledge at the library’s Trivia Night, set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25.

Teams of two to five can sign up to participate in a trivia contest featuring 10 categories on various topics such as pop culture, literature, science, history and more. Sign up by Oct. 22 to participate.

For questions or more information, call the library at (716) 945-1890.
