RANDOLPH — Forty-eight members of the Randolph Central School Class of 2022 received their diplomas Friday during commencement exercises at the high school auditorium.

Salutatorian Jordan Henry addressed her classmates saying they should not let the future scare them because it will provide adventure, hope and new beginnings.

“After tonight, spend the rest of the summer with your closest friends. Cherish this time you have left together. When it comes time to part ways, say goodbye but do not forget how much they have meant to you and have helped you grow,” she said.

Guest speaker state Sen. George Borrello gave the class his words of advice and encouragement. He told the graduates how people urged him to leave the area and never come back because there were no opportunities in Western New York. He said he proved them wrong after traveling the world and returning home to become a successful businessman and entrepreneur in Sunset Bay.

“I started out working in the parking lot of the Sunset Bay Beach Club when I was in college and now I own it,” he said. “That is the American dream and it can be realized right here.”

Valedictorian Luke Pagett recognized the accomplishments of his classmates and encouraged them to work hard to achieve their goals and succeed.

“You will be faced with challenges to many things you don’t want to do. Sometimes these obstacles appear too big to be conquered and too much to handle, but I dare you guys to take these obstacles head-on and strive to be better,” he said. “Work your tails off and never stop chasing your dreams.”
