BRADFORD, Pa. — The first two groups of players for the 2022 Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic football game have been announced, including one senior from Salamanca and three from Randolph.
In total, the first 10 players were named on Monday, Feb. 28, and 10 more on Sunday: five each week for New York and five for Pennsylvania.
The 48th game is set for Aug. 6 at Bradford High’s Parkway Field. Pennsylvania’s win last summer evened the all-time series at 22-22-3.
Named to the New York roster this week are Salamanca wide receiver/safety Cole Hedlund along with the Randolph trio of fullback/free safety Luke Pagett, defensive tackle Jodey Frame and wide receiver/strong safety Josh Bush.
Also named to the New York lineup were Frewsburg tight end/linebacker Joel McLaughlin and two-way lineman Landon Bragg, Olean tight end/safety/linebacker Julius Chlids and quarterback/linebacker Railey Silvis and Pioneer running back/defensive back Jack Buncy and guard/defensive tackle Alex Coder.
Pennsylvania’s first named players are Warren tight end/defensive end Justice Greene, wide receiver/defensive back Ben White and tight end/linebacker Gage Shaffer; Bradford wide receiver/outside linebacker Dalton Dixon, Johnsonburg running back/linebacker/cornerback Camron Marciniak, Eisenhower tight end/guard/defensive end Michael Jones, Cameron County running back/defensive end/linebacker Dylan Rieder, Elk County Catholic center/linebacker Jake Parrish, Port Allegany wide receiver/safety Payton Spencer, St. Marys quarterback Christian Coudriet.
— The 6-foot-1, 155-pound Hedlund made the Section 6 Class C first-team defensive all-stars. Hedlund said football is easily his favorite sport and is excited to take the field with players he never got to play with. His favorite football memory was the one-point victory over Southwestern in the regular season his senior year.
He plans to attend Jamestown Community College for two years and attend another college in the health/sciences field. He is a National Honor Society member and was named Business/Marketing Student of the Month.
His hobbies include hunting, spending time outdoors and playing and watching sports. His favorite NFL team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite player is Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson.
— Pagett, at 6-foot-0, 180-pounds, was a two-time Post-Journal All-Star, a Big 30 defensive all-star, Class D all-state second team, Western New York All-Academic team and sportsmanship award recipient. He plans to study sports medicine in college and possibly continue his football career.
Pagett said he is excited for the opportunity to play football one more time as an All-Star and to play with people from other schools with the same passion for the game. His favorite football memory was winning the Section 6 title at the Bills’ stadium.
His hobbies include football, wrestling, baseball and lifting weights. His favorite football team is the Ohio State Buckeyes and his favorite player is OSU quarterback C.J. Stroud.
— Frame, listed at 6-foot-3, 265 pounds, plans to attend Hilbert College majoring in biology and continue his football career.
Frame said he wants to play in the Big 30 Game because he feels that it’s a chance of a lifetime to get recognized for his skills. His favorite football memory was getting two sacks in the sectional championship game and celebrating with his defense.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing, weight lifting, hiking and chopping wood. His favorite NFL team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite player is former Pittsburgh linebacker Greg Lloyd.
— Bush, at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, was named the Cardinals’ offensive playoff MVP. Bush said he is excited to play another game because he feels his football career went by faster than he ever thought it would. His favorite memory was getting to play in the Buffalo Bills’ stadium as a senior.
He plans to attend barber school to pursue a career as a barber. His hobbies include snowmobiling, riding dirtbikes and being outdoors. His favorite NFL team is the Bills and his favorite player is their quarterback, Josh Allen.
