LITTLE VALLEY — There will be two primaries Tuesday — Democrat and Republican — to nominate candidates for supervisor in the Town of Hinsdale.
Polls will be open in Hinsdale and seven other towns with primary races Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. There are no countywide primaries for any political party.
Hinsdale Supervisor Thomas Hooper’s decision not to seek re-election set off a scramble by three candidates for the post, which carries a two-year term.
In the Democratic primary Councilman Mary Ann Powley and Michael Bushnell are vying for the nomination. Bushnell is also running on the Conservative Party line in November.
In the Republican primary, Bushnell and former Hinsdale Town Councilman Monroe Bishop are vying for the supervisor nomination. Bishop also has the Independence party line.
Depending on the outcome of primary voting in Hinsdale, all three candidates could wind up on the ballot in November, or Bushnell could end up unopposed with a sweep of the Democratic and Republican primaries.
There are also primaries for supervisor in Ischua and Dayton.
In Ischua, Supervisor Jeffrey Goodyear is being challenged by Robert Frank Jr. in a Republican primary. Goodyear is also running on the Independence Party line in November. It is for a two-year term.
The fourth supervisor primary features Dayton Supervisor Mark Smith, and challenger Angie Mardino-Miller in a Republican primary. Mardino-Miller is also running on the Independence Party line in November. It is for a two-year term.
