CATTARAUGUS — Roberts Memorial Free Methodist Church on South Street was buzzing with activity on April 27 as Jill Kelly visited for Spring Ladies Night.
Rebecca Ellis and Stefani Lillie, both of Cattaraugus, organized the women-only event. According to Lillie, it was the third ladies night event, which she and Ellis have organized this past year, beginning with one April 2011 and another last October.
Lillie said she and Ellis wanted to do something for their community to bring women together — something that would get them out of the house for a night to get them encouraged and uplifted. She said they invited Jill Kelly, wife of retired Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, to their third event because she is someone local, famous and respected in this area.
She said they’d done several different things at previous ladies nights. At their last event, she said they had a station where the women could do fall flower arrangements. They also had someone come in and do message bracelets, which told a message about Jesus. She said, in addition, they did a paraffin hand dip, which was real popular with the ladies. This time, they had a Victorian tea after the program with more mingling and fellowship time.
“It’s all to get people into fellowship, talking to people who they wouldn’t normally talk to,” Lillie said.
