SALAMANCA — A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Southern Erie, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties and will remain in effect until Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service has forecast 8 to 16 inches of snowfall, with the most falling Monday morning and early afternoon. At this time, snowfall rates could exceed one inch per hour.
Early this morning, rain transitioned to snow and a general coating has covered the grass in Salamanca as of 9 a.m. Roads, especially bridges, have a coating of snow.
All local school districts are open today, with the closest closing coming at West Valley Central. About two dozen schools across the Twin Tiers posted closings or delays this morning.
