SALAMANCA — Keith E. Spruce, 52, of Erie Street, Salamanca, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon (Jan. 30, 2026).
Born June 16, 1973, in Olean, he was the son of the late Marilyn Cooper and Nelson C. Spruce Jr.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and of the Turtle Clan.
Keith attended Salamanca and Rushford high schools.
He had formerly been employed as a dispatcher with the Seneca Nation Marshals Office.
He will be remembered for being very mechanical with the great ability to repair automobiles. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and playing horseshoes, and watching wrestling and NASCAR.
Surviving are two sisters, Tammy Kettle of Buffalo and Deanna Spruce of Niagara Falls; three brothers, Charles (Joanne) Spruce of Salamanca, Michael (Tracy) Porter of Buffalo and Randy (Wende) Porter of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Lori Huff, and two brothers, Wesley Spruce and Daryl Spruce.
Friends began calling Monday (Feb. 2, 2026) at the Coldspring Longhouse and continued all day Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2026). Longhouse services were held Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2026) with Speakers of the Coldspring Longhouse officiating. Burial would be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
