SALAMANCA — Susan Y. Poling Haines, 60, of Salamanca, died Monday morning (Jan. 26, 2026) at UPMC Pittsburgh, following a short illness.
Born Oct. 2, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Virgle (Sandra) Poling of Gifford, Pa., and the late Evelene “Sue” Lambert Poling. She was married May 21, 1988, in Salamanca, to Douglas D. Haines Jr., who survives.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1983.
She had been employed as a school bus driver with the Salamanca City Central School District for over 20 years, retiring in June 2023. Previously, she had been employed with Cattaraugus County Bank.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends by the pool and going to Rushford Lake with her family. She loved to have fun, play rummy, have movie nights, play in a cornhole league and attempt to bowl and golf.
Surviving besides her husband and father are a daughter, Sydnee Haines; two sons, Trent Haines and Dylan (Rachael Ferguson) Haines; two grandchildren, Paisley Haines and Tanner Haines, all of Salamanca; three sisters, Malesia (Ronald) Hill of Little Valley, Malinda (Wendell) Haines of Salamanca and Lari (Russell) Granger of Vail, N.C.; her dog, Stella; special cousin, Mary Owens of Salamanca; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Shawn Poling; and a nephew, Chad Skoken.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Friday (Jan. 30, 2026) at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, at which time funeral services will be held.
