To ski or not to ski
Skiers and snowboarders enjoyed a cold but clear Monday afternoon on Holiday Valley’s slopes. The Ellicottville ski resort reported 12 lifts and 43 trails were open on Monday. The area received about 3 inches of snow Sunday, and groomers are out mixing that in with the base for nice skiing and riding. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be cloudy and colder, with a chance of snow showers and a high only in the mid-teens. Friday will remain cloudy and likely drier, with a high around 20. Wind chills on Friday and through the weekend will be in the single digits, potentially dipping below zero at times. Looking ahead to the coming weekend, there will be a brief — and slight — warmup as we head into Saturday, with snow showers expected and a high in the upper-20s. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to drop back into the teens, although the sun may make an appearance.
