GREAT VALLEY — Sandra A. Simons, 70, of Great Valley, formerly of Bradford, Pa., died Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2025, at the Houghton Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, following a short illness.
Born March 16, 1955, in Gowanda, she was the daughter of the late Duane and Evelyn Prosser Kelley. She was married in Mansfield to Carl R. Simons Sr., who predeceased her in 2019.
She attended Cattaraugus and Randolph schools.
Sandy had been employed as a cleaning supervisor with the former Dudley Hotel in Salamanca, as kitchen manager with the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany and as a housekeeper at Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, camping, watching the sunrise and stargazing.
Surviving are two sons, Ron (Wendy) Waite of Salamanca and Robert Waite of Great Valley; a grandson who she raised, Ronnie Waite of Great Valley; a great-granddaughter, Emma May Lynn Waite of Great Valley; three sisters, Sharon Peck of Panama, Dora (Patrick) Hogle-Judge of Princetown, W.V. and Delinda (Richard) Cline of Little Valley; sister-in-law, Cathy Kelley of New Albion; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Greg Westlake.
Sandy was the light of our big, wonderful family and she will be missed by so many.
She was predeceased by a son, Daniel, in 1974; three brothers, Duane R. Kelley, Leon W. Kelley and Kenneth L. Kelley; and two sisters, Shirley Colter and Doreen Kelley.
Friends called Tuesday (Nov. 25, 2025) at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, at which time funeral services were held. At a future date, a Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home toward Sandy’s funeral expenses.
