Lonestar and Montgomery Gentry to perform outdoor casino concert Friday

SALAMANCA — The air is going to be filled with the sounds of legendary music this August as Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino brings Lonestar and Montgomery Gentry, featuring Eddie Montgomery, to the outdoor concert stage Friday for a spectacular night of entertainment.

Lonestar is no stranger to chart-topping hits. Over the course of their 30-plus years together, the award-winning band has scored 10 No. 1 singles, including “Amazed,” — spending nine weeks at No. 1, becoming a huge crossover hit, climbing to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 — and “I’m Already There,” which held steady at the top for six weeks.

Michael Britt (guitar), Keech Rainwater (drums), Dean Sams (keyboard) and Drew Womack (vocals) definitely know a thing or two about delivering impactful songs. In fact, they took fans down memory lane in 2023 by re-recording their No. 1 hits on the album TEN to 1. Stream TEN to 1 here.

Earlier this year, the band officially released their new EP, “Iconic, Vol. 1,” on Jan. 24. The five-song collection is the band’s thoughtful homage to some of the industry’s legendary female vocalists.

“As a band, we are riding high,” Sams said. “We’ve had the two biggest touring years of our career. It feels new again, and the fans have just given us a rebirth. We are more energized. We are better players and singers. Our show is by far the best show we’ve put out on the road, and I’m really excited for the folks that are coming to see us in 2024.”

With the first single release of “Iconic, Vol. 1” — “You Make Loving Fun” — MusicRow praised Lonestar’s version as “a marvelous reinterpretation that turns a classic inside out, splendidly.” Support also arrived from American Songwriter, saying, “Lonestar pumped it up and added their own country-rock flair, which turned it into a completely different vibe… the band’s new version is loud, fun, and celebratory… Lonestar injected it with their infectious energy and made it their own. It’s an homage to the original, while also being unique enough to create a completely different listening experience.” Taste Of Country raved, “Lonestar offer up stellar Fleetwood Mac cover.”

There’s something about combining nostalgia with innovation that turns a beloved memory into an engaging new experience — giving fans brand new versions of the hits they have loved for years. As Forbes journalist Pam Windsor recently noted, “Lonestar is still going strong.”

Lonestar will be joined at Seneca Allegany by Montgomery Gentry, featuring Eddie Montgomery. On the road this summer, Montgomery said the band has been having a great time.

“We’re trying to stay out of trouble, but you know how that goes,” he told the Press in a recent interview. “You ain’t having much fun if you ain’t causing any trouble.”

Montgomery Gentry was a powerhouse duo that delivered five No. 1 country hits and more than 20 charted singles, including “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” “Something to Be Proud Of,” “Lucky Man,” “Hell Yeah,” and many others.

“Me and T-Roy put this duo together — Nashville didn’t,” Montgomery said. “We were buddies and friends, got each other in trouble and outta trouble.”

The two started in the music business as kids. Montgomery’s parents were musicians and they would join them on the road.

“Mom was a drummer, Dad was a guitar player and the bartenders were the babysitters,” he joked. “That’s pretty much the only thing we ever knew.”

After Troy Gentry died in a helicopter crash in 2017, Montgomery has kept the duo’s legacy alive, touring and sharing Montgomery Gentry’s music and spirit with fans everywhere.

“There’s not a night that don’t go by that we don’t talk about T-Roy,” Montgomery said. “I’m always used to lookin’ to my left there because it’s been me and him and John Boy, or John Michael as everybody knows him as, that started a band pretty much outta high school.”

Montgomery said they’ve played in the Buffalo area before and are looking forward to a show for the Southern Tier. He said there’s nothing like getting on stage and playing songs everyday folks can relate to, and you never know where the inspiration for the next song will come from.

“They’re going to have one helluva time. That’s what we want,” he said. “We’ve been known to lock the doors, bolt the gates and party all night long. So if they have work the next day, they might want to call in sick.”
