Deb’s Pressing Issue
They never say thank you
Why is it that some people never say thank you, no matter what you do for them and how many times you do it? Although it may not be necessary always to express our gratitude, it’s human to expect at least a nice attitude in response to our efforts.
According to “Exploring Your Mind Blog” about psychology and philosophy, ingratitude has concrete psychological reasons. These people who never say thank you (because they don’t want or don’t know how to) invalidate or undermine the value of other people’s positive gestures and efforts. A study from Dr. Pinhas Berger shows people who never say thank you have significant emotional and social deficiencies. Some lack interpersonal skills and lack empathy for others, or their upbringing and education might have caused it.
People who never say thank you are missing out on the opportunity to create satisfying relationships. It’s hurtful when you do something for someone else and they take your effort or sacrifice for granted, as if you were obligated to do whatever you did. In my opinion, saying thank you goes a long way. It shows your appreciation for who people are and what they do.
