Muccio wins last Div. I trophy; Wright tops points, average

OLEAN — The fifth and final stop of the 56th season of the Penn York Golf Tournament was played at Bartlett Country Club on Monday, Aug. 4, under ideal conditions.
Marcus Muccio, of Bavarian Hills, shot a 74, four over par, to win the last boys’ Division I (ages 16-18) trophy of the season by three strokes. Liam Kiel was the runner-up with a 77.
But it was Cardinal Hills’ Owen Wright who finished the year with both the points title, courtesy of his three wins, and the John Forrest Memorial Most Outstanding Golfer trophy as he recorded the tour’s low scoring average at 74.0.
Caledonia’s Liam McArdle won in Division II (ages 14-15) once again with a six-over par 76 and won the points title.
In Division III (ages 12-13), Kayd Caskey (Bavarian Hills) shot a 43 over nine holes to win the week as well as the points title. And in Div. IV (11-under), Kaysen Beaver, another Cardinal Hills golfer, shot a 38 from the modified tees for the low score, holding off Gavin Blocher (Bartlett) by two strokes. Beaver also won the Div. IV points championship.
On the girls’ side, Eva Militello (Orchard Park) won Division I (ages 14-18) by shooting a 50 over nine holes and finished atop the points standings. Winning Division III (Ages 12-13) for the week on her home course, as well as the points title, was Molly Leslie (Bartlett) with a 50. Blaire Nedzinski (Treasure Lake) won Div. IV (ages 11-under).
