Winners named at Salamanca Bike Rodeo
SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Kiwanis Club and the Seneca Nation again teamed up to hold their annual Bike Rodeo and Health Fair on June 1 at Salamanca High School.
Participating area youth had the opportunity to win camping gear and new bikes as part of the rodeo. Bike winners were Pharoah Brown, Stryker Brown, Oakley Gilbert and Baylee Bennett. Camping gear winners were Benjamin Stahlman, Zayivious Hope, Jewell Smith and Baylee Bennett.
The rodeo included bike checks and offered repairs; provided hotdogs, water and snacks; handing out water bottles; health and safety information tables; a bike safety station; a road course with rules of the road and bike helmet safety.
Other organizations that participated in the event and that provided copious amounts of information included Cattaraugus County, Jamestown Community College, City of Salamanca fire and police departments, Salamanca City Central School nurses and food services, the Salamanca Youth Center and the Seneca Nation’s Allegany Community Center, Disabilities, Family Support Services and Marshals.
