Flatland Cavalry brings a bit of Texas folk to Cattaraugus Co. Fair

LITTLE VALLEY — An energetic blend of country, folk and Americana that’s easy on the ears and occasionally heavy on the heart treated the Cattaraugus County Fair grandstand Wednesday night when Flatland Cavalry took the stage.

The second of two country music concerts at this week’s fair, Flatland Cavalry treated concert attendees to a setlist of favorites from their 11 years of recordings, including “One I Want” from 2019, “Sleeping Alone” and “Come Back Down” from 2019, “Last American Summer” from 2023 and even a medley of favorites from George Strait, Alan Jackson and Pat Green.

Following the release of their 2023 album “Wandering Star,” the Nashville and Texas-based band was nominated for Group of the Year at both the 2024 and 2025 ACM Awards, earned their first RIAA Gold certification for “A Life Where We Work Out” feat. Kaitlin Butts and made their sold-out headline debut at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.

A six-piece ensemble that features fiddle, organ, banjo and mandolin alongside its core band instruments, Flatland Cavalry has had its songs featured on two major movie soundtracks, “Twisters” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” as well as the popular TV show “Yellowstone.”

Flatland Cavalry lead singer and acoustic guitarist Cleto Cordero performs Wednesday at the Cattaraugus County Fair.

From left, guitarist Ried Dillon, violinist Wesley Hall and keyboard player Adam Gallegos are members of Flatland Cavalry, which played to the Cattaraugus County Fair grandstand Wednesday.
