SALAMANCA — Lorna N. Button, 77, of Salamanca, died Friday (July 18, 2025) at home, following a long illness.

Born June 17, 1948, in Great Valley, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elisca Rogers Vaughn. She was married on April 10, 1971, to Dean E. Button, who predeceased her in 2004.

She was a graduate of Ellicottville High School, Class of 1969.

Lorna had been a homemaker and also had been employed at American Locker, Ellicottville, for over five years.

She was a member of the former United Congregational Methodist Church, Salamanca.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her trips to the gaming room.

Surviving are two daughters, Gail Button of Salamanca and Deana Jimerson of Jamestown; adopted daughter, Alisha Godlewski of Syracuse; her favorite granddaughter, Morgan (Rob) Dowdy of Salamanca; four grandsons, Andrew (Jackie) Button, Jake (Sierra Abrams) Dowdy, Josh Dowdy, all of  Salamanca, and Richard D’Hart of Schenectady; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Esterline of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, Norman (Mickey) Vaughn of West Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Zaidee Storey and Garinet Beeles; three brothers, Wayne, Niel and Philllip Vaughn; and a grandson, Braxton D’Hart.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
