CCE offering home and water testing services

ELLICOTTVILLE — When was the last time you tested the water quality of your home or farm? Now is a great time to do it.

Water testing kits are available for pickup in the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Ellicottville. Results will be sent directly to the home/farm as soon as they are available. Water samples need to be at the CCE Office, 28 Parkside Drive, by 9 a.m. each Tuesday for processing.

Homeowners with wells are responsible for ensuring their water quality. If safeguarding the health of you and your family is a priority, testing well water regularly is strongly recommended.

Farms need an adequate and safe water supply for the production of crops and to sustain healthy livestock and poultry. If you use a well, pond, river or other unregulated water source to water crops or animals, you are at risk of exposing your product and the consumer of your product to contaminants.

Contact the Cattaraugus County CCE at (716) 699-2377 ext. 106 or Lozier Environmental Consulting, Inc. at (585) 654-9080 with any questions.
