GREAT VALLEY — Music enthusiasts will gather this weekend to enjoy the 3rd annual Great Valley Band Jam, hosted by the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Company, with two days of live music, good food, family activities, camping and fun to benefit the fire company.
The family-friendly music festival will feature some of the area’s best musicians onstage at the Fireman’s Clubhouse from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and noon to midnight Saturday. Listen to rock and country music performed by eight bands and duos.
Most activities for younger kids and big kids alike are free with admission, including a Mega Truck Bounce House, a Sports Bounce House, Fire Truck and Big Foot cutouts for photo ops and games of corn hole. GellyBall by Hotshotz N’ Heroes will be on site Saturday from 4–8 p.m. Fantasia Fantasy Faces will offer face painting and temporary tattoos on Saturday only. Face painting is not included with admission but an additional fee per painting.
Food trucks will open to the public at 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday. Hoptoads Real BBQ, Larry’s Food Wagon and 3C’s Catering will offer people their favorite festival foods. On Saturday, Peaches ‘N Cream ice cream and Zoey’s Sweet Treats will be on-site.
Free camping is available Friday through Sunday at sites located behind the clubhouse, but registration is recommended.
Chairperson Eileen Hostettler said they will have power speakers out back on the patio for people who want to listen to the bands from the comfort of their campers. There is also designated handicap parking, as well as hardscape parking for motorcycles.
Hostettler said the performers come from all over the area and regularly play at various local hot spots. She said Octagon is basically rock and roll with a little bit of country.
“Jon & Sandy (Jon and Sandy Gray) are a duo,” she said. “They are snowbirds that come back to their home in Allegany for the summer. Jon makes guitars.”
The Hickups is a band of four guys who bring Americana, country and “Hicked Up” rock classics to the stage.
Established in 2014, The Chillbillys WNY duo has been playing various places in the Western New York area and Northern Pennsylvania area for years.
“The Chillbillys are an acoustic duo from the Franklinville area. They will play fan favorites in Classic Rock, Southern Rock, country, blues and more,” Hostettler said.
Rick Emley and Margie Tucker make up the Interstate Daydream duo. They play a little of everything from country, rock, classic, new hits, oldies and crowd favorites.
Another acoustic duo, Kimber & The Silver Fox, keeps the music going, and the band Wildfire will bring on more excitement.
The Bob Hartle band, from the Bradford, Pa. area, will wrap up the evening with their traditional country style and they may also throw some Bluegrass and southern rock into the mix.
The Fireman’s Clubhouse is located at 6042 Depot St. Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available at the gate or online. Friday’s admission fee is $5 for adults 13 and older; Saturday’s admission is $10 for adults 13 and older. Children 12 and younger are free both days.
Concert wristbands will be given out at the door with a different color for each day. Hostettler said if people buy their tickets online, they just need to show their confirmation that they purchased their tickets online and they will get a wristband for entry.
