Franklinville’s Dave Gaeta Memorial softball league results

Week five results from the Dave Gaeta Memorial Franklinville Fast Pitch Softball League played Sunday, June 29 in Franklinville.

Apollo Canna 31-Steele and Obriens 0

Apollo pitchers Jay Weitzel and Arnie Cooper combined to toss a five inning, one hit shutout. A/C (4-1) was led by Jason McGraw with two home runs, while Cooper and Mitchell Gregory had four hits each.

Rich Clemenhaga had the single as Steele and Obriens dropped to 0-5.

Straight to the Top 32- Shamrocks 7

Stephen Diebler and Quincy Jordan had five hits and two home runs each while Mike Diebler and Ethan Rich each had four hits to lead Straight to the Top (4-1) to a stunning upset win over the previously unbeaten Shamrocks (4-1). The Toppers victory created a four way tie for the league lead, with two weeks to play.

 

IOOB 7- Gamecocks 6

IOOB (4-1) remained in the four way knot at the top of the standings, with a nailbiter over the Gamecocks (2-3). The loss pushes the Gamecocks to the brink of playoff elimination.

 

In the other game: The BallBarions (2-3) hung on to keep John and Mary’s (0-5) winless, with a two run victory.

 

The league took the holiday weekend off and will return to play on Sunday, July 13 with four games.
