Owen Wright wins Penn-York opener at Elkdale

SALAMANCA — The 56th Penn-York golf season kicked off at Elkdale Country Club Monday with a wonderful summer day for scoring. Longtime Penn-Yorker, Owen Wright (Cardinal Hills) shot an impressive even par 70 to top Louie Nedzinski (Bavarian Hills) by three shots.

Wright birdied par 4 hole 2 with a drive that almost reached the green. After chipping the ball onto the green, he sunk an eight foot putt.   After another birdie on three he was able to get pars throughout the course. “All around it was a solid day,” Wright said. “Made those five footers all day and made easy pars.”

In Division III, Kayd Caskey (Bavarian Hills) won his first title with a 39 over Keegan McArdle(Caledonia) (41). In Division IV, Kaysen Beaver(Cardinal Hills) picked up where he left off from last year shooting a 36 and beating Gavin Blocher(Bartlett) by 3 shots(39).
