West Valley woman charged with welfare fraud
OLEAN — A West Valley woman faces felony welfare fraud charges following an investigation, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Nicole L. Quinn, 39, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud, class D felonies; and seven counts of offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony.
The charges stem from the investigation into a complaint made by the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services of suspected welfare fraud. According to deputies, Quinn allegedly fraudulently received $8,349 in SNAP benefits by concealing and failing to report income.
Quinn was released with an appearance ticket.
Salamanca Police
- June 9, 9:37 a.m., Brittany M. Pannell, 38, of Salamanca, was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. Pannell was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 9, 9:48 p.m., Jerry A. Halstead, 75, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor, and inadequate headlamps, an infraction. Halstead was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 10, 4:45 a.m., Mary J. Hanby, 61, of Olean, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor. Hanby was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 11, 3:22 p.m., Sara A. Alsaad, 26, of Gowanda, was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Persia Town Court. Alsaad was turned over to the Gowanda Police Department.
- June 12, 7 a.m., Dana J. Ray, 29, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor. Ray was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 12, 4:02 p.m., Autumn N. White, 28, of Steamburg, was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. White was also arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. White was held pending arraignment.
- June 12, 10:42 p.m., Bryan Acosta, 38, of Salamanca, was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. Acosta was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 13, 7:26 a.m., Nicholas M. Carro, 22, of Portville, was arrested on a warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. Carro was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 13, 7:30 p.m., Bradley P. Stahlman, 27, of Salamanca, was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor. Stahlman was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 14, 9:46 p.m., Dominic J. Campbell, 29, of Salamanca, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a class E felony; driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors; acting in a manner injurious to a child, a class A misdemeanor; moved from lane unsafely and speeding, infractions. Campbell was released with an appearance ticket.
- June 15, 5:19 p.m., Jesse S. John, 35, of Salamanca, was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. John was held pending arraignment.
- June 15, 10:21 p.m., Patrick A. Askey, 33, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor, and speeding, an infraction. Askey was released with an appearance ticket.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office
- ASHFORD — Hugh D. Smith, 53, of Colden, and Marissa A. Sampson, 33, of Springville, were each charged June 8 with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony. Sampson was additionally charged with five counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from a traffic stop, during which deputies allegedly found methamphetamine, cocaine and other drug paraphernalia as well as a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. Smith and Sampson were both remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.
- LITTLE VALLEY — Mary Jo Lindberg, 59, of Randolph, was charged at 9:30 a.m. June 11 with third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony, and third-degree possession of a forged instrument, a class A misdemeanor. Lindberg was released with an appearance ticket.
- SALAMANCA — Michael Smalls, 48, of Buffalo, was charged June 12 with second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from a traffic stop on Erie Street. Smalls was released with an appearance ticket.
New York State Police
- PERRYSBURG — Connor Evan Krone, 25, of Gowanda, was charged at 10:09 a.m. May 9 with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor. Krone was released with an appearance ticket.
- YORKSHIRE — Scott E. Harvey, 37, of Gowanda, was charged at 5:30 p.m. May 11 with second-degree aggravated harassment, a class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident reported Feb. 10. Harvey was held pending arraignment.
- CARROLLTON — Derek J. Brown, 29, of Salamanca, was charged at 11:42 p.m. May 11 with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a passenger under 16, a class E felony; driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of 0.08$ or greater, unclassified misdemeanors. Brown was released to a third party.
- LITTLE VALLEY — An 18-year-old Delevan resident was charged at 10:44 a.m. June 12 with promoting a sexual performance by a child under 17, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child under 16, a class E felony. The charges stem from an incident reported March 6. The suspect was released with an appearance ticket.
- DAYTON — Daniel V. Grover, 47, of Gowanda, was charged at 10:11 a.m. June 13 with petit larceny and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. Grover was released with an appearance ticket.
