SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Public Library will kick off its Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” with a mini carnival Saturday, June 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature a bounce house, carnival games with prizes, cotton candy, popcorn and a chance to register for the Summer Reading Program.

Officials announced that the library is making some changes to the reading program this summer. Children can sign up to earn bookworm bucks to spend in the library’s little “store” on various prizes. Bucks can be earned for time read, pages read and with Activities Bingo.

Children who complete the Summer Reading Program can then pick an honor book, which will be added to the library collection with their name on the front. Teenagers participating in the program will receive a reading-themed tumbler and a chance to win an Amazon gift card. Adults can also sign up for the Summer Reading program. All who participate will get a canvas zip-up tote bag and raffle tickets to try and win one of four different gift sets.

Children can register for the library’s weekly painting class, which will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesdays starting July 2. Space for the class is limited, so make sure to sign up soon.

Story Time will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays starting July 5. The library will also be hosting Mr. Morton’s petting zoo from 3–5 p.m. July 22nd and a Magic Show at 1 p.m. Aug. 16.

The library will be offering several craft classes for teens and adults this summer. The first one is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Participants will be making macramé key chains.
