Kellen’s Pressing Issue
My own private radio
After years of hemming and hawing, I finally did it — I signed up for SiriusXM radio. No offense to the local radio stations that do play around here, but the stations that cater to the sounds I enjoy are fairly limited, with my favorites that come from the Buffalo/Toronto area being more static than music in the Southern Tier. As for the stations around here that I do like, I can only take hearing the same 40 songs over and over for so long.
With SiriusXM and its hundreds of music options, I’m finally hearing songs I love but haven’t heard in years popping up unprompted. My main pick most days is still The Beatles Channel — even though I’ve heard all of those songs hundreds of times — and I’ve especially loved starting each day with Breakfast With The Beatles from 8 to 11 a.m.
A few other stations I find myself turning to most often include Classic Vinyl (1960s-80s classic rock) and Classic Rewind (1970s-90s classic rock), Real Jazz (self explanatory), Siriusly Sinatra (mid-century vocal standards), Deep Tracks (classic/prog rock deep cuts), On Broadway (self explanatory) and Symphony Hall (Beethoven, Mozart, etc.).
