GOWANDA — In a 17-team tournament Saturday, the Salamanca wrestling team finished fourth at the Gowanda Round Robin.
Salamanca’s finish marked a massive improvement, coach Keith Jones pointed out, after finishing 14th of 18 last year.
This years’ Warriors were led by first-place finishers Noah Longley (124) and Conner Seeley (152). Longley defeated Gowanda’s Owen Pfaffenbach 6-3 in the final. Seeley pinned Maple Grove’s Nate Tomlinson in just 0:24 in the final.
Kasen Hardy (285) was second and Wyatt Bialaszewski (116) finished in third. Also winning matches for the Warriors were Ryder Jimerson, Jack Merrill and Everett Atwood.
For the Salamanca girls’ team, Maelonnee Bacelli went 2-3 and placed fourth in her bracket. Madison Mohr placed third.
For Randolph, in 11th, Tanner Patterson (101) and Parker Paterson (124) were both third. James Franze (145) and Easton Pence (160) were both fourth.
Franklinville was 12th in team scoring. Billy Slavinski took fifth at 215, going 3-2. Derek Ossont (138) and Gunner Jochen (145) both took sixth, each going 2-3. Brenden MacWilliams (170) was seventh and Maverick Jennings (285) was eighth.
