The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau announces this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Addison Gabler. She is the daughter of Abby and Kyle Gabler and a senior at Allegany-Limestone Central School.
Gabler was nominated by her school counselor, who describes her as a mature, self-motivated and goal-oriented young lady. She is heavily involved in her community and school’s extracurricular activities.
After graduation, Gabler plans to pursue a degree in inclusive early childhood education.
Gabler has earned many hours volunteering, working with preschool-aged children during vacation bible school through the Believers Chapel and Creekside Chapel. Helping children play games and activities, Gabler has over five years of hands-on experience.
As a dancer, Gabler has aided her dance teacher at Dancer Loft, working with a 5-year-old dancer in ballet. She also danced for the residents at the Pines and Eden Heights nursing homes during holiday performances. Also through the studio, Gabler worked with donors in Operation Warm Hearts to collect new pillows and pillowcases for children in need.
As a member of the National Honor Society, Gabler has volunteered for the Red Cross blood drive and during many PTO events, including family fun nights, open houses, pancake dinners and many more. She has also volunteered at the concession stand during basketball and soccer games.
In school, she is a member of many extracurricular activities, including Student Activities Council for six years, currently as executive treasurer; Friends of Rachel for three years, helping organize random acts of kindness, raise money and create a positive chain reaction; National Honor Society for two years, currently as vice president and upholding the four pillars of the NHS – scholarship, service, leadership and character – and working as a group to help members in the community; National Junior Honor Society for two years; Leo Club for two years, using leadership, experience and opportunity to assist people in need; Camp Counselor for one year for fifth-grade students; and varsity tennis for two years, team manager.
Gabler has received many academic achievements throughout her school career, including the Blue Ribbon Award in 2021 for French 1 and Physical Education and in 2022 for French 2 and English; the Excellence Award in 2021 for accelerated Earth Science, Microsoft Applications and Exploring Art; and again in 2022 for Biology. Additionally, Gabler was named student of the month and received the Humanities and Social Science Award, a scholarship through the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Gabler has worked at Twist & Shake during the summer season for the past three years. She enjoys babysitting and is certified in Stop the Bleed, CPR and First Aid through the New Visions Education Program. For over nine years, Gabler has been dancing with Dancers Loft and absolutely fell in love with ballet, which has been a passion ever since.
Congratulations, Addison!
