    JAMESTOWN — The Allegany-Limestone boys basketball team won its league opener Monday night, led by a big scoring night from Carson Kwiatkowski and a huge effort on the boards from Gavin Straub.

    A-L (3-0, 1-0) defeated Southwestern on the Trojans’ home court, 58-40, in a CCAA West I game. Kwiatkowski posted a game-high 36 points, including 14-for-20 at the free throw line. Straub, meanwhile, pulled down 21 rebounds in a double-double (12 points) to help the Gators control the glass.

    Kwiatkowski, who had 14 of A-L’s 20 points in the second quarter, also had four assists, three steals and four blocks. Cooper Wilczewski had six rebounds and four assists.

    CCAA EAST II

    Cattaraugus-Little Valley 54, West Valley 33

    CATTARAUGUS — Cattaraugus-Little Valley reached the win column for the first time this season, paced by Tucker Barrick’s 20 points and Owen Wright’s 19.

    D.J. Szata added 11 points for the T-Wolves (1-3, 1-0).

    Derik Schoepflin led West Valley (1-2) with 12 points.

    Franklinville 66, Pine Valley 30

    FRANKLINVILLE — Eli Shenk and Collin Mooney (six steals) scored 14 points each to lead Franklinville (4-3, 1-0) to a win in its league opener.

    Isaac Towne posted 13 points with eight rebounds while Matthew Spittler had six assists for the Panthers.

    Trent Ivett led Pine Valley with 11 points.

    NON-LEAGUE

    Ellicottville 39, Cassadaga Valley 27

    ELLICOTTVILLE — Parker John’s 10 points paced Ellicottville (1-1) in a defensive game at home.

    Dominick Polino pulled down 14 rebounds, scored eight points and blocked three shots for the Eagles. Blake Smith dished out four assists.

    Cameron Katilus led Cassadaga Valley with nine points.

    AT CATTARAUGUS

    West Valley (33)

    Leckey 4 0-1 8, Tharnish 3 0-0 6, Heitman 1 3-6 5, Schoepflin 4 4-6 12, Fuller 1 0-0 2. Totals: 13 7-13 33.
